The National Smallbore Rifle Association is the governing body for airgun, pistol, crossbow and small-bore shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Scout Association recognises the Youth Proficiency Scheme Tutor Award as the official minimum qualification for anyone looking to supervise young people in shooting activities, whether with a crossbow or an air rifle. This isn’t limited to specific sections or even to leaders. In fact, anyone<\/em> with the passion and commitment can step up and become a shooting instructor. If you’re ready to guide young people safely and confidently in these exciting skills, this is your opportunity to get involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two Days. Each Qualification. A Whole New Skillset.<\/strong>
This action-packed, two-day course runs from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM each day\u2014and yes, you\u2019ll need to attend both days in full to earn your qualification. But once you’ve got it, you’re set! Your certification stays valid for five years and can be renewed with a simple NSRA logbook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bring a packed lunch to keep your energy up, and don\u2019t worry\u2014we\u2019ve got the hot and cold drinks covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualified\u2014But Check Your Cover<\/strong>
While this award gives you the skills and recognition to instruct, it doesn\u2019t automatically include NSRA instructor insurance. You\u2019ll need to confirm insurance coverage with the organisation you’re instructing through\u2014for example, the Scouts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The good news? Your qualification is fully transferable<\/strong>, so if you choose to work with other organisations in the future, you can take your expertise with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the process, you’ll need to sign a declaration confirming that you haven’t served a term of imprisonment or youth custody exceeding three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you’ve completed the training, you’ll have the opportunity (entirely optional!) to join the Twang and Bang District Training Team<\/strong> for target sports. This is a great chance to get involved in district courses and events, support upcoming activities, and share your passion with others!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YPST airgun course 27th\/28th September \u00a395 per head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YPST crossbow course 29th\/30th November \u00a395 per head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Location, The Hub, Briset Road, Eltham, London, SE9 6HN (that’s right at the end of the road)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re under 21, but over 18, don\u2019t worry\u2014you can still take part! You\u2019ll need someone aged 21 or over in the room when using your qualification, so you\u2019re fully supported while putting your skills into action.<\/p>\n\n\n
